Much more goes on in the life of the Churches than just Sunday worship, so please come and remind yourselves (or hear for the first time) just what has been happening in the past year. What have you appreciated? What matters to you most? What is our vision for the future? What should we be giving our energy to? We include a short special feature as well as our general reports. Come and share your thoughts and then some cheese and wine together, as we celebrate God’s goodness to us all.ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING

PLEASE BRING SOMETHING TO SHARE!BRICKS AND MORTAR
The chance to improve our facilities for church and community use has been discussed over years. Plans were approved well over a year ago and we hoped to begin work last year.
The process has been slow, but St. Matthew’s PCC has finally made the decision to go ahead with offering the contract.
WHAT WE AIM TO DO
We feel, as a church Council, that we have been given a legacy in our church buildings which has served us well. It’s our responsibility to think ahead: if we are to be a community building, then we need to work to improve things for groups of all kinds who can come to the church.
We hope to:
- increase toilet facilities for men and women
- install disabled toilet facilities
- extend the church hall
- introduce more storage space
- raise the floor of the lower room and make it more ‘user-friendly’
- create a small workroom or office or quiet room space
THE COST
This is a big project for a small village.
We expect to need to raise £100,000 in addition to the funds we already have earmarked for the project.
If we believe that God provides our needs and that this is a worthwhile need, then we’ll find the money, but it will require work, faith, prayer and ingenuity.
Of course, we’re also concerned that our key purpose as a Church is to share the love of God with others. We don’t want to become narrow in our vision or bogged down with fundraising, so our efforts need to happen hard and fast!
FUNDRAISING
We will need:
- to establish a fundraising committee – DO YOU KNOW PEOPLE IN THE VILLAGE WHO HAVE IDEAS, SKILLS OR CONTACTS WHO COULD GET INVOLVED IN SOME WAY?
- to let everyone in the community know what we want to do, and ask if they feel they can contribute
- to write to organizations, groups, businesses, who may consider a donation- CAN YOU THINK WHO WE MIGHT ASK?
- to mount some events – small and large- to raise money and to help the community come together – CAN YOU SUGGEST AN IDEA OR PUT ON EVEN ONE EVENT?
If you can offer help, suggestions or gifts, please respond, either on the form below or by contacting one of the people mentioned.
