Meetings are open to Members of the public and press

Members of the Public may address the meeting in the 'Open Forum' section at the beginning of the meeting with the permission of the Chairman of that meeting.


The Statuary conditions under which public and press will be excluded are set out in Appendix A

Members of the public who wish to raise matters for the attention of the Parish Council should contact the Clerk or Chairman at least 10 days in advance of the meeting if the matter is found to be appropriate an item relating to the matter can be put on the agenda for that meeting

Items of Business not on the agenda will not normally be considered at the meeting unless the Chairman considers that it is in the Public Interest for the matter to be considered

The Council will not consider anonymous letters, correspondence cannot not be treated as confidential unless it's content falls within on of the categories set out in appendix A

Members of the Public may only address the meeting in the time set aside with the permission of the Chairman otherwise a special resolution for them so to do will have to be proposed and passed

Appendix A

Confidential Business. (see Standing Order 64, note 1).

Business to be transacted in the absence of the public must fall into one of the following nine categories.
The applicable category shall be quoted in full within the resolution to exclude the public from the meeting.

Discussion on:-

1. Employees, former employees and prospective employees.

2. Accommodation, services or financial assistance provided by the Council to an individual.

3. Details of the terms of contracts for the acquisition or disposal of property, or for the supply of goods and services.

4. Negotiations in labour relations.

5. Advice received, information obtained or action to be taken in connection with any legal proceedings involving the Council.

6. Action taken or to be taken in connection with the prevention, prosecution or investigation of a crime.

7. The identity of an individual who gives information to the Council about a criminal offence, breach of statutory duty, breach of planning control or a nuisance.

8. Information provided by a government department on terms that forbid disclosure to the public.

9. Information, the disclosure of which is prohibited by, or under any enactment, or by order of a court.
